OUR ACCOMPLISHMENTS

From our beginnings in the late 1990's our sole purpose has been very simple. As a community volunteer organization our mission is to work cooperatively and interactively with the community, elected officials, and state, federal, and local agencies to enhance, and improve local streetscapes, which resulted in a better environment for both the commercial and the residential areas of Westchester. You may have seen our work throughout the community for the past two decades, and as a result, your quality of life here has been enhanced...greatly!

FLIGHT PATH PLAQUES
Westchester is fortunate to have the Flight Path Walk of Fame located in the Westchester Town Center. This is an extension of the Flight Path Learning Center and Museum located on airport property on Imperial Ave. (www.flightpath.us)

Before the reconstruction of Sepulveda Blvd in the Town Center the Flight Path Learning Center had installed bronze plaques into the sidewalks honoring people who had contributed to the development of aviation and aerospace. Theses plaques needed to be removed during the reconstruction of Sepulveda Blvd. and were stored at the Museum.

The Flight Path Walk of Fame is an on-going program and WSIA did not want the new sidewalks disturbed to install future plaques. WSIA designed an inset into the sidewalks that is finished with recycled turquoise crushed glass. The Flight Path plaque is installed into the inset along with the donor's plaque.

There is a total 115 insets starting at Manchester Avenue and extending south to the Welcome to Westchester/LAX gateway sign.

Flight Path Plaques Ceremony.

You are invited to see the sidewalk insets and to visit the Flight Path Learning Center and Museum.
